Top Chef Seattle

I thought i'd open a thread to discuss this -- it debuted last week. Most of the Top Chef spinoffs kind of grind on me but the original still seems to grab me. Or maybe I just have a major crush on Tom Colicchio.

At any rate -- I thought the first ep was really interesting. It was a good way to introduce the contestants and judges and I really liked the tests that the chefs were given -- although -- I do think that they didn't all have tests at the same level. Tom's test seemed way more difficult than the other tests.

Am I the only person still watching? I'm curious to see how it goes. Plus...Seattle is a cool city.

Sorry to see No Reservations end. The farewell tour seemed more laid back and relaxed, although too many clip shows.

Sandwich King is delightful, but I'm not as fond of 24 in 24 - it seems like cheating far too often (too many purchased rather than served dinners), and a distinct lack of Lorenzo

Guy's Big Bite in his backyard kitchen has done great looking food. I'm not spending high five figures on an outdoor kitchen, but Guy is much more enjoyable cooking than he is on DDD.

I thought I had given up on Top Chef and this season seems to have gotten little publicity. But I did see the episode this week and thought it was pretty good, definitely the best kick off episode so far. I agree the challenges were not equally distributed though. Working a shift at Craft vs. coming up with a salad?

Woke up to all the wind this morning so I turned on TV and the test episode of Top Chef was on at 6 am. I agree that the various chef's tests were pretty uneven plus I think of the timed sessions, salad was given the most time. I liked Emeril's soup test but I liked the way all the chef's walked around and had interaction with the contestants. It was a better introduction and a glimpse into their personalities. I'll just watch it whenever I see it's reruns at odd times, I rarely can stay awake much past 9 anymore!
