I have really enjoyed listening to this podcast with its "guess this food" sound quiz and "dumpling of the week". Both hosts are very knowledgeable and bring a global perspetive to their conversations. I also like their rapport. I hope the Chicago foodie community supports this show.

i'm in on the series too, subscribed via itunes/podcast app.

my gripes are the campy music and the "guests" which are prerecorded seem really short... IMO if you can get Tony Hu for an interview, you should spend some more time with him.

also the tone of the whole thing has a schwetty balls vibe to it, but i guess that's what the sketch was parodying.

    WBEZ cancels three tasty podcasts
Chicago Public Media WBEZ FM 91.5 has pulled the plug on three locally produced podcasts — covering the food culture, craft beers and artists “on the edge of creativity.”

Ceasing production at the station are “Chewing the Fat,” the food show with Monica Eng and Louisa Chu, “Strange Brews,” the beer show with Andrew Gill and Alison Cuddy, and “General Admission,” the art show with Tyler Greene and Don Hall.

This is total crap. And I've noticed they are repeating even more content than usual, including during prime drive times--very, very disappointing.

Good news from Louisa on FB!!

Hey Chewing the Fat listeners, Louisa here. Our podcast will leave WBEZ after two finale episodes this fall, release dates to be announced. Monica and I will produce the show independently. Monica continues as WBEZ’s food and health reporter. This fall she’s finishing the fellowship-supported series on school food. I continue as a consulting chef, and you may have seen that I lived in Alaska this summer, researching wild salmon harvests, plus traveling to France for the Champagne grape harvest. First and foremost, we thank you, our listeners, for your patience. And WBEZ for the chance to create a little podcast, especially in the time of Serial. Plus, everyone who's played our game "Will She Eat It?" Monica and I offered seaweed Pringles to Peter Sagal and Ian Chillag, Soylent to Elon Musk's brother Kimbal, and hot dog foam to Ben Calhoun. That last one, still to be heard. Monica says, “I’ve had so much fun doing Chewing the Fat at WBEZ and am super grateful for all the support the station gave us. But I’m also bursting with new ideas for the podcast that will be as wild as they are intellectually nourishing. Plus, I think I might have finally found a dish Louisa will refuse to eat.” Our new (so far unnamed) podcast will launch before the end of the year. In the meantime, look for us at live events around Chicago this fall. We will each host panels at Taste Talks October 3. Monica reads from her food writing at an 826CHI event Oct 9, and moderates a Chicago Ideas Week panel on food as medicine on October 12. And I interview Dr. Andrew Weil at the Union League Club Chicago on November 7. Expect delicious and nutritious local, national, and international food and health coverage in new episodes coming soon!

Could you simply call it "Chewing?" Or would that be some sort of trademark infringement?
