GOT COOKBOOKS?
As part of National Nutrition Month (March), our Nutrition Education Team is handing out new or used cookbooks to our clients. If you have any cookbooks that are looking for a new home, please consider donating them to the Food Pantry (848 Lake St) with a label indicating they are for Food Pantry/Maria Delis.

Certainly a donation to them is a tax deductible event.
FYI - Greater Midwest Foodways is happy to acquire cookbooks related to the Midwest, which happens to be a tax deductible event as well. Just contact Cathy2.
If you have community cookbooks, not from Cook County, the Regional Archives at Northern Illinois University is glad to archive them. I will update this once I locate their contact information.

The issue is the value, which the charity cannot establish for you. A friend who gave quite a number of books to an institution created a spreadsheet. She demonstrated values sold on Abe Books or e-Bay to affirm value.
Yeah, the fun begins when the IRS wishes to visit to discuss what you donated.

We also welcome buyers at said sales...."If you reject the food, ignore the customs, fear the religion and avoid the people, you might better stay home."

I also have cooking magazines I would like to give away. I can donate them to Wjise Penny resale or save for the Friends of the Wheaton Library sale too but it would be nice to get them into some hands that might use them.Toria

Our Farmer's Market Book sale this year is on Saturday July 23
and we are REALLY in need of cookbooks and children's books.
You can drop these off at the Deerfield Library any time they are open.

Post #13 - September 1st, 2017, 8:31 amAs many of you know I am involved with the Friends of the Deerfield Library which is also a 501c 3 organization that is happy to receive donations of cookbooks for our annual Farmers Market sales. If you would like to clear your shelves and DONATE some cookbooks (or any books), please feel free to drop them off anytime the library is open at 920 Waukegan Rd, Deerfield.
This year's Farmers Market Sale is just around the corner on
Saturday Sept 9, from 7AM to 12:30PM
the Market is at Deerfield and Robert York Rds
All cookbooks are selling for $3 each, buy 5-get 1 free.
We also have nicer children's books, gardening, & some vintage books.
