    LTH,

I'm clumsy, I break stuff, not often, but with some regularity. This morning I managed to break the sugar bowl for our everyday china. My wife wasn't overly annoyed, we've had it for 17-18 years, but her equanimity in the matter leads me to believe that this is just the excuse she needs for a completely new set of dishes. ;)

In the interest of capsizing the 'quick' boat to new china does anyone have any sources for out of production china, I've searched, but can not come up with sugar bowls in the correct pattern.

It's Block Spal, made in Portugal. The pattern is Blue Fields by Jack Prince (1987). This is not expensive dishware like Wedgewood, which is easy to find replacement dishes for (take it from one who knows  ), but I'd really like to replace the sugar bowl. Especially if it allows me to avoid questions like, "how do you like this pattern?"

    Thanks in advance,

    HI,

Eventually everything shows up on e-Bay.

    Cathy,

Thanks, but ebay does not have the Block Spal sugar bowl in the correct pattern.

Actually, a very considerate friend found one and gifted it to Ellen and I for the holiday. (Thanks)

    Enjoy,
    Gary

I seem to be a clumsy fellow, but, thanks to the Chow Poodle's recommendation of Replacements.com, every time I break a dish it's not a call to action for my wife to go china shopping.

    Thanks again Chow Poodle!

There's a jewelry store in Princeton Illinois that has an enormous inventory of discountined china patterns. The china is stored in the basement on wooden shelves, and seems to go on forever. Here's a link to the website

    http://www.patternsofthepast.com/

The store is really like a treasure hunt. Princeton is actually a cute little town, with a couple of fun antique shops and a fancy food (!)/wine/kitchen store in the downtown area.
