That article's really old. I like this one a lot better:

I tried a lot of fake meats when I first joined Weight Watchers, because they are a great way of getting protein with low fat and some fiber. I have to agree with the author that quorn is far and away the best one. (That is, among the ones that try to taste like meat, not things like Dr. Praeger's burgers that are not trying to be meatlike.) It's better than lousy supermarket chicken. I wouldn't eat it plain but there are a number of pretty good things you can cook with it.

I am allergic to some (not all) mushrooms, and this stuff makes me really nervous.

As a vegetarian, I'm a HUGE fan of Quorn. Their naked cutlets are a good subtitute for non-breaded chicken (ok, probably not for an omnivore, but they do it for me!). I love to grill them on the George Foreman, along with some red bell peppers and mushrooms, toss them with garbanzo beans, and marinate them in a mix of balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, and crushed red pepper (marinade taken from f*ckcorporategroceries.net). My omnivore parents enjoyed this so much, they ate more than I did last time I made it.
