Thanks to Dicksond for setting up another stellar meal at Amancer last night. While I did not have my camera, others were busy taking pictures of the food as it came out from the kitchen.
We started with chips and guacamole. The guacamole was delicious and creamy and it was hard to stop filling up on it while we waited for our next course. I was busy washing it down with a bottle of mexican coke.
Monica brought out steaming bowls of carne en su jugo for everyone. Our end of the table was served first, and we were encouraged to start before the rest of the soup came out. I have never tried this particular dish before and thought the flavor was extremely "meaty" -- I was unaware that we were supposed to add other condiments to the soup. Monica came around with a large bowl of beans, which she was busy ladling into our bowls. We also had onions and fresh lime to add to the mix. The end product was delicious, quite different from my initial taste, and I enjoyed it very much. In fact, I was full by the time I finished my soup.
Next on the menu were two chicken dishes, a chicken in green mole and a second dish in a spicy sauce with crema, mushrooms and spices. The orange-colored chicken was spicy and I kept dipping my homemade tortillas into the sauce when my piece of chicken was gone. They were accompanied by rice and, of course, a never-ending supply of homemade tortillas.
Monica also brought out a large bowl of ribs in a chile sauce for us to try. I think these were the same ribs Flip ordered the previous week at lunch and I enjoyed them very much.
Again, the bill was ridiculously small for such a huge quantity of food. It is obvious that everything was prepared carefully for our group and I will be back often to the new Amancer Tapatio soon.
