First Stop: Sukhadia’s
The group will meet at Sukhadia’s to taste the much-loved snacks typical of India’s street vendors. While sipping a cup of masala chai and nibbling on pakoras, samosas and bhel, Ranjana will begin sharing recipes and weaving a historical and cultural context for Indian cooking.
Second Stop: Patel Brothers
Thousands travel long distances to shop for spices and groceries at one of the largest and most comprehensive Indian food stores anywhere. Our group will learn about the tools, spices, grains and condiments commonly used in the Indian home and leave with an invaluable ingredient guide to help us continue our culinary journey
Third Stop: Viceroy of India
At Viceroy of India, long a fixture of Chicago’s Indian community, we’ll enjoy a sumptuous six-course meal while learning about the preparation techniques and recipes of each dish.
Fourth Stop: Tahoora Sweets and Café
We’ll have a chance to ask any lingering questions over tea and traditional sweets at Tahoora before our tour closes, then you’re on your own to explore the colorful sari shops before heading home.
