    2007 IACP CHICAGO CONFERENCE
    April 11-14, 2007 Chicago Hilton & Towers

    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) is a not-for-profit professional association which provides continuing education for its members who are engaged in various areas of the food industry—from food preparation, product manufacturing, to culinary education, food writing and food promotion. The worldwide membership of nearly 4,000 encompasses more than 35 countries and is literally a “Who’s Who” of the world of food.

More than 1,200 attendees are expected at the 2007 IACP conference April 11-14 at the Chicago Hilton & Towers. Volunteers from the local community provide invaluable assistance in a variety of ways, from helping to greet conference participants and providing information about things to do in Chicago, to taking tickets and assisting at seminars and workshops.

If you have an interest is the culinary world, this is a great opportunity to rub elbows with noted professionals and learn a few new things while assisting at a seminar. Please review the following schedule of activities to determine where you might be able to volunteer. Then contact Dot Vartan with the day and times that work for you. Thanks so much for helping to make our conference a success.

To volunteer, contact Dot Vartan: vartan@rcn.com or 847/676-1391

Cathy, do you know if there is any kind of rebate on the conference price for volunteers?
Man : I can't understand how a poet like you can eat that stuff.
    T. S. Eliot: Ah, but you're not a poet.

    HI,

None was offered, though it doesn't hurt to ask.

I volunteered to assist at lectures I thought I might attend if I was a attendee. I don't mind passing out literature, making the sure the microphones work and be a gopher for the speaker. As long as I get to hear what they have to say. :)

    Regards,
    Cathy2

IACP needs volunteers to collect keynote speakers at O’Hare and escort them back to the Hilton on April 10-13. It’s a chance for volunteers to meet and greet some of the most substantial and influential and nicest people in the food world. Volunteers can e-mail or PM Cathy2 including your name, phone number and e-mail address. She will forward this to the IACP Volunteer coordinator.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

I just wanted to say a BIG thank you to the many LTHers -- and most especially Cathy2 -- who contributed to the success of the IACP convention.

The event was amazing, and even more so because of the knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers.

Thank you so much for your time.
