I suddenly find myself dining-partner-less for the evening. Since I usually eat at places that can accomodate my GF partner, I am thrilled at the opportunity to eat whatever I want.

But, it would be much more fun if someone were to join me. I am completely open as to where or what.

I'm in west Lakeview; have bicycle or can use public trans.

It's already 5:45, but if anyone sees this before, say, 7:45 PM, PM or post here. I'll check back.

Oh, well. Didn't think I'd get lucky, but was worth trying.

    Hi,

I am glad you asked, though sometimes these really last minutes things just don't always come to fruition.

    All the best,

Thanks. I figured it to be a longshot.

Actually, I'll second the thanks for asking; I'm increasingly finding myself in last-minute situations for lunch and dinner, and impromptu meetups are really an underutilized part of the board (also a shoutout to SteveZ and Jazzfood for the attempt at a last-minute LTH lunch last week.)

For future posts of this type, I think it's more effective if the OP chooses a specific restaurant at the outset.

I agree with this. The few impromptu lunches I've attended have either been at places I've wanted to try, or places I haven't been to in years. While the company is the primary draw, the venue can make a difference, too.

I agree. As someone who has posted quite a few successful and unsuccessful last-minute get-togethers, I find that the more specific you are, the better your chances of having company.

Essentially, remove the requirement of someone having to negotiate with you. List a place and a time and I think you'll see better success.

    Best,
    Michael

I can see how naming a place could be effective.

In this case, I didn't much care and I certainly didn't have a place in mind. I was hoping to simply tag along with someone who wanted to go out or already had plans by themselves or a small group and didn't mind someone tagging along.

If I should do this again, please don't anyone feel afraid to suggest a place to me! Decision making in terms of food is not my strong suit, lol. Just don't take me to a place that had multiple menu pages. . .it'll take me an hour to order
