In the interest of bringing that county-fair flavor to the LTHForum picnic, we'll be conducting our first ever cooking contest of any kind.

    Announcing.....
The First-Ever LTHForum Pie Baking Contest

    To participate:

If you are interested in being a contestant, please read the following information carefully:

--Send me an email or PM indicating your interest and specify what type of pie you would like to submit. This will help us determine necessary judging categories (fruit, cream, savory, etc.). Do not post the type of pie you would like to make in this thread, as that can jeopardize any blind judging. Please keep your baking plans secret, judges will be other LTHers, and we're using the honor system here.

    --Only one pie per contestant

    --A maximum of ten contestants

--The prize will be the shining glory of winning the first LTHForum cooking contest (in addition to a ribbon, certificate, or trophy of some sort).

    ***************************************

    We also need judges:

If you're interested, please read below:

    --You must like pie.

--You must be willing to taste up to ten pies during the LTHForum picnic where there will be tons of other good things being eaten up at the same time.

--Judges should keep their identity private until the judging begins.

--Send me an email or PM indicating your interest in being a judge and any qualifications you might have ("I really like pie", is a good enough qualification for me). Do not post your interest in being a judge to this thread. Doing so will ensure that you are not a judge.

    *************************

Once we know that we have enough participants and judges, I'll post the full rules and instructions here.

    Best,
    Michael

    Thanks,
    Michael

I will bring a pie to eat as my contribution. Hope this helps... (I will want feedback, since I may enter the Holstein Park Apple Pie contest)

And, since you were the only contestant, I will happily grant you the rank of 1st place, no matter the quality of the pie. ;)

The contest is called off? That sucks! Well, can anyone offer up a good place to go for pie? I simply must have pie this weekend, even if I have to pay for them myself. :(

    Pie Lady,

While there may be no contest, there will be some pies. You could join the picnic crowd.

Oh my, now I'm feeling quite under pressure - do I try the lard/butter crust or stick with my usual all butter crust? You may not even like the pie at all!

I use all-butter myself, but I'm sure whatever you decide on will be tasty. Pie is always tasty!
