Here's something that might be of intreest to LTHers:

"Deeply Rooted: Stories from Ground to Plate

For most inhabitants of (post)modern Western societies, food has long ceased to be merely about sustenance and nutrition. It is packed with social, cultural, and symbolic meanings. Every mouthful, every meal, can tell us something about ourselves, and about our place in the world.
-from Consuming Geographies: We Are Where We Eat, by David Bell and Gill Valentine.

We want to tell the stories of our food. We want to raise awareness of where our food comes from. We want to ease our society’s feelings of isolation by bringing people together for the exchange and enjoyment of ideas and food. We do not want to lecture.

Oral traditions link storytelling with mealtime and live performances encourage human interaction. We are producing a culinary and theatrical event at Uncommon Ground, a restaurant, coffeehouse, bar, and music venue at 3800 N. Clark St. in Chicago. Deeply Rooted will connect people to food and each other by exploring the stories of a meal from growing to preparing to sharing.

We are seeking short stories and monologues about peoples’ relationships with food on its journey from ground to plate. We will select four to five diverse pieces to be performed in the 35-seat back room of Uncommon Ground. The performance will be structured such that the stories move from field to table, encouraging participants to examine the complexity of what goes into their meals.

Possible styles may include but are not limited to: narratives, monologues, folktales, traditional storytelling, poetic work, etc. Space is limited, so solo work is preferred but two to three person pieces will also be considered.

Submissions should be 5-10 minutes in length. Email all submissions to deeplyrootedstories@gmail.com with Title/Your Name in the subject heading. Please include the piece with your name removed as an attachment in Rich Text Format or as a Microsoft Word document. Make sure to provide your contact information in the body of the email. The deadline is October 1st. Contact Lauren Shepard with questions. 919.801.2768."
"The fork with two prongs is in use in northern Europe. In England, they’re armed with a steel trident, a fork with three prongs. In France we have a fork with four prongs; it’s the height of civilization." Eugene Briffault (1846)

I'm curious - not that I have anything worth sending in at this point, but can we submit our own posts from LTH to things of this nature? Do we basically own rights to our own posts, I assume provided they don't get removed from the site?
