    Hi,

I am at a wedding in Galena on Saturday. I plan to meander my way home on Sunday. If there are people who will be in the region who are interested in meeting at Cajun Connection, then please advise.

I can be flexible on time, because I will be driving back slowly. I can kill time by checking out Bishop Hill. Yet show up at Cajun Connection at any agreed upon time.

I'm also interested possibly, finally, getting a Big Ethyl in Morris, IL. I will not even begin to consider eating a four pound burger all by my lonesome.

Ron's Cajun Connection is my favorite place on earth ( ok, Northern Illinois) however we have an obligation elsewhere that day. Give Ron and Amy a big hug for me and be sure to take home a jar of his "Hot Damn" and some boudin.

We live only about 15 minutes(Marseilles) from Ron's, and it is one of my favorite restaurants.

My wife, baby, and myself would be interested in going and visiting with Ron & for another great meal, we havent been in about 3 weeks.

A late lunch would be ideal.

I cant wait to dig into some red beans and rice, etouffe, jambalaya, gumbo, and fried corn again. Perhaps this visit I will try the aligator, and frog legs.

It should be a good weekend of lunches now, first it is Amanacer Tapatio on Saturday for lunch, and now Cajun Rons on Sunday. :D

While I can't help you in eating the Big Ethyl, I can keep you company and cheer you on if that interests you.

If you decide to drive through Morris on your way home, I might suggest you stop off at Dan's Candy in Joliet for their famous caramel apples. Also the Dan's that's normally open on Sunday is just down the street from Amanecer Tapatio.

    V,

Why don't you consider meeting us at Cajun Connection?

I'm thinking the Ethyl will have to wait for another day. Perhaps go as a group of 4 or more to document and devour. I may still stop by hoping someone is eating it to see one for real. I heard they serve several every weekend, so it is not too unusual event.

Getting a caramel apple is a good idea. I appreciate your mentioning it.

    Hi Cathy,
I've got plans earlier in the day and won't be able to get to Ron's in time. I hope you all have a great meal though!

Also have you ever heard of Mona's in Toluca? It's a family style Italian place with traditional Italian American food. I vividly remember the totelini which is actually little ravioli (if my memory serves me correctly) and the meat sauce. I was only there the one time and was famished when I arrived so the food might not be as good as I remember. Some friends and I were on our way to brunch when one suggested we go to Mona's instead. Two plus hours later and we finally arrived!

It could be the meal was great only because on our way to go to brunch at Riverside Cafe it was just suggested that we go to Mona's instead. As a result we were famished by the time we got their 2 hours later! Anyway, I think Mona's is about 30 minutes away from Utica.

I just called Dan's and their Sunday hours have not yet started. They're open on Sundays in October. I would gladly pick some apples up tomorrow and meet you some place in the vicinity if you're interested.

Once again we are looking forward to lunch, and meeting you folks today at Ron's. We will get there a little before 2 p.m. As I mentioned before it will be my wife, daughter, and myself. We drive a silver Honda Ridgeline pick-up.

Finally a chance to report back on our lunch on Sunday @ Cajun Connection. In my humble opinion the best cajun restaurant in all of Chicagoland.

My wife, daughter, and I enjoyed meeting Cathy, LikestoEat out and her friend(I am sorry I do not remember her name, I am the worst at remembering names).

The food was as as usualy very good. We shared an appetizer of a spicy popcorn shrimp, and fried corn. The deep fried cron on the cob was a hit.

I had my usual 2 dish combo of jambalaya, and shrimp etouffe. Both very good, this meal comes with a bowl of gumbo, which was as usual very good. My 11 month old daughter likes the broth and rice Ron puts in the Gumbo that also has chunks of sausage in it.. My wife had some fried shrimp, and jambalaya as well. The jambalaya has andoulli sausage, and a many pieces of smoked pork in it, and is very food.

All in all another good visit to Cajun Connection, and it was nice to meet some people from the forum.

Maybe a fried chicken crawl could be next out here in Lasalle County, the fried chicken capitol of Northern Illinois.

We had a great time too! I had crawfish etouffe which had a nice spicy peppery taste to it. My friend had shrimp creole and we all shared a basket of buffalo shrimp and fried corn on the cob. It was nice to met jimswside and his lovely family and Cathy2 who does get around! Cathy2 did take pictures, I am looking forward to her post.
