Grand Cru is pleased to welcome Michael D'Amato from Domaine Select Dec 8th from 6-8pm for a fun and informative tasting of Tuthilltown Spirits Whiskies and Bourbons. This micro-distillery is the first of it's kind in New York state since prohabition.

Ralph Erenzo & Brian Lee converted the oldest water powered grist mill in New York state (1788) into Tuthilltown Spirits. Their first release was in 2006 and they have been going strong ever since. Each batch produced is ground on site using as much locally produced grain as possible, even from their own fields. Instead of a column still that can be continually run, they opted to use a smaller pot still, which creates small batches giving the final product a unique and distinct taste. They are annually distilling around 4,000 gallons which barely keeps up with demand. From there the spirits are aged in small new American Oak barrels of various sizes, even as small as 2 gallons. It's pretty much a hands on operation on all levels. Each bottle is hand corked, waxed and labeled (detailing what year it was distilled, batch and bottle number).
