Post #2 - April 5th, 2010, 4:53 pm"Adventurously" - I'd get a kick out of eating something I can't get in Boston - African, for instance! But also any other "unusual" food, or excellent Malaysian, Indonesian, Szechuan, Central/South American - I enjoy it all! Fri lunch will be Noonish, Monday could be as late as 3 or so - Make a suggestion! I'm happy to explore on my own - but it's fun to share, too!

Often, when somebody new comes into town, we refer them to the GNR list We do have group outings, and anybody can organize one- but you might get a better response if you picked a place, or, even better, if you perused the events board and signed up to go to an existing event.

I'm betting you don't get much Uzbekistani food in Boston, but the only Uzbekistani restaurant 30 miles from the Loop/city center. This is a really big city, so lots of opportunities, but also a lot of terrain. Will you be driving? Relying on public transportation? Post #5 - April 6th, 2010, 8:47 amThe first thing that jumps to mind when you say "something I can't get in Boston" is Italian Beef. It might not be all that adventurous, but it is an only in Chicago thing. GNR Al's is a great choice, but there are plenty of other good Italian Beef options if Al's isn't convenient to where you're staying.

I hear good things about this new and stylish Senegalese restaurant in the South End, and I'm not sure that we really have anything comparable in Chicago. (There is Yassa on the South Side, but I'm not sure that the two compare).Toast, as every breakfaster knows, isn't really about the quality of the bread or how it's sliced or even the toaster.
