Visual sociologist Douglas Harper, a member of the sociology faculty at Duquesne University and founding editor of the journal Visual Sociology, will give an illustrated lecture on The Italian Way: Food and Social Life, an analysis of how the food and foodways of some two dozen families in Bologna, Italy reflect that country’s identity and values structures. This is public lecture at 6:30 pm, Wednesday, May 19, in the Schmitt Academic Center (SAC), Room 161, 2320 N. Kenmore Ave. It’s conveniently located two blocks west of the Fullerton L station, served by the red and brown lines.
