I'm confused, isn't the exchange next Monday? Everyone's cooking a week in advance?

    Hi,

I often make my exchange item the day of the event. This time there was a family event that caused me to get on it early. I am responding to conditions rather than my personal muse.

    Regards,

Sorry to do this (and definitely sorry to miss the meal and the company), but something's come up and I won't be able to make Monday's LCdS dinner. I hope someone can take my spot. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

I seem to be getting some pretty lousy directions from GoRoo and Google...is this place just a few blocks from the California Pink Line?

I'm afraid I need to bow out of this dinner. I've been struggling with a sinus infection which is just not getting any better and I just don't have the energy to cook.
    My apologies to all.

Looks like there's more drop outs. I still can't exchange, but if there's room I'd love to join you for dinner.

Thanks. I was so looking forward to the eels and bull testicles.

More bad news here...I have a severely disabled car which I may or may not be collecting from NWI tomorrow after work. If I can make it to the dinner I will but I haven't had time to cook anything and won't before tomorrow night (plus the uncertain transit issues). So sorry for the last minute notice but hopefully everyone will just have a bit more for themselves. Fingers crossed that I'll at least see you all for dinner...

Oh no! Good luck with your car, boudreaulicious! :(

Just to clarify, how many servings should we bring?

We're down to six exchangers, so that means bring five servings.

I am still planning to attend & exchange.

I was debating between the Cook's Illustrated individual meatloaf and a recipe entitled 'The Best Meatloaf I've Ever Had'. Who can resist the umami meatloaf from Damen Wise of Craft Steak?

So proud of myself for making the grocery run late last night so I could cook if snow-bound today. After spending *WAY* too long on a sofritto and various prep for the recipe, the verdict? S'ok. Nice glaze.

I made one loaf with shiitake/porcini mushrooms and one without. I plan to bring one serving without shrooms (for Leek, I believe). Anyone else?

    Hi,

I know Leek and I made ours in advance, so I have seven or eight items available. Those in the made more in advance want to get two curries from me, that is fine.

    Regards,

    Yay! Thanks :)

I may end up only able to do the exchange and then have to head home with takeout :( Mr Leek (Leekman) had a work obligation and it might not work out for us. I'll let you know when I arrive at 7, cooler in hand. Sorry to be so wishywashy.

But Leekman's work thing ended earlier than he thought, so we will be able to join you for dinner.

Say, did anybody finalize the next get-together? I can't remember if it was settled or not.

And I apologize if removing my servings from the bag hurried people along, I didn't mean to break up the party by doing that. I assumed we'd all stick around after exchanging. Either way I had a great time and already told my father-in-law about the place so we can take him when the weather gets better. I know he'll share some eels with me!

In the absence of anyone volunteering, I said I would do it. If someone prefers to do it, that is fine with me. The second Monday in January is the 10th.

Once dinner is over, the exchange is initiated by someone. It was fine you got the ball rolling. Plus it is a weeknight, leaving when we did was within the norm.
