    Hello, friends!

Please join Slow Food Chicago and the Chicago Honey Co-op this Saturday, June 23 from 6 pm to 9 pm for our annual summer solstice potluck supper.

We have much to celebrate! The Chicago Honey Co-op successfully moved the apiary to three new locations this year. We will enjoy our repast at the beautiful Rancho Verde, Christy Webber Landscape's LEED-certified headquarters. We'll be giving tours of the Chicago Honey Co-op hives recently installed on its green roof. Proceeds from the potluck will benefit the Chicago Honey Co-op and Slow Food Chicago's preSERVE garden in North Lawndale. And if you like, there's an option to add a $5 donation to the cost of your ticket to send our elected regional farmers and delegates to represent Chicago at the Slow Food International Terra Madre conference this fall in Turin, Italy.

Win raffle prizes from the Chicago Honey Co-op (beekeeping classes and local honey!), Christy Webber Landscapes, Candid Wines, Virtue Cider, Goddess and Grocer, Dill Pickle Co-op, Ke'Torta, Real Tenochtitlan and more!

Bring your chairs or a blanket, and a potluck dish for sharing. This is a family-friendly event, all ages are welcome and children under the age of 12 are admitted free. However, please leave your pets at home.

    Beer donated by Revolution Brewing
Cider donated by Virtue Cider- including a special firkin of unblended cider, not available anywhere else!
    Wine donated by Candid Wines
    Bread donated by Crumb
Salmon donated by Fortune Fish Company and prepared by Chef Jeannine Wise, Slow Food Chicago Board member (that would be me, hola, everyone!)
Herbs and deliciousness for the salmon were mostly grown at Mitsubachi Farm, Takemasa Okugawa and Jeannine Wise, proprietors (thank you, Vedgewater!)

Tickets as well as directions (by car, bicycle and public transportation) are available through Brown Paper Tickets at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/252610 or you can click through at http://www.slowfoodchicago.org.

$10 SFC or CHC members/$15 general admission
    Children under 12 are free
Tickets will also be available at the door

I hope to see you there, this is my favorite event of the year. We get to show off the groundbreaking and enduring efforts the Chicago Honey Co-op has made in urban beekeeping, we get to support Slow Food Chicago and we get to break bread with our fellow citizens who live to learn and contribute to a food system that is fair, clean and good.

If there's any further information you need, please don't hesitate to contact me through my email- I'm at jeannine@slowfoodchicago.org. I know my hands will be full of pesto, salsas and glazes tomorrow night, but as soon as I get a sticky-food free moment, I will respond.

Thanks for reading and I hope you can come see the bees on Saturday!

    Best,
    Jeannine Wise
