Rick Bayless is bringing a Frontera Fresca to Northwestern University, and the Evanston Lunch Group wants to check it out. But it is not clear if FF will be open in time for our next outing, Tuesday, October 23rd. If we can, we will head to Norris Center on the Evanston campus for our next lunch.

But if Frontera Fresca is not yet open, we have an excellent Plan B: Todoroki Hibachi & Sushi in downtown Evanston, which no LTHer has yet commented upon. Todoroki’s menu features sashimi, nigiri, and maki as well as a variety of hibachi proteins plus soups and appetizers.

Please join us at one of these two Evanston restaurant newbies. I will post a few days prior which we will go to, based on whether or not Frontera Fresca is open in time.

Excellent idea for Plan B. I'll be at either.

If Frontera is open, I will be there. If not, I will have to take a pass. I teach until 12:20 and then again at 2:00 (arriving at 1:50). The timing off campus will be too tight.

To balance out Gary (not to suggest that he is off-balance in any way  ), I'm definitely in if it's Plan B, but may have to take a pass if it's Plan A.

Due to scheduling issues, we are changing our date for the October Evanston Lunch Group, which will definitely gather at Todoroki. We will have to visit the latest Bayless empire outpost another day.

Well, I took the photos, but don't feel a need to post them, unless someone else is interested. The sushi is well-described by the word meh, which probably isn't surprising for a place that offers all-you-can-eat sushi near a college campus, with a reasonably good beer menu, if you like Sapporo. I liked EvA's comment, "Well, it's a little better than supermarket sushi." For a college student with a huge appetite on a slightly restricted budget (e.g. can't afford Kuni's on Main St, Evanston) it might be a fun location.
