Man Bites Dog: Hot Dog Culture in America
September 25, 7:00 PM @ Fremont Public Library, Mundelein, IL

Whether you call them franks, wieners, or red hots, hot dogs are as American as apple pie. This program explores the transformation of hot dogs from unassuming street fare to paradigms of regional expression, social mobility, and democracy. Hot dog scholar Bruce Kraig investigates the history, people, décor, and venues that make up hot dog culture and what it says about our country. Copies of Kraig’s book of the same title will be available for purchase. He will be accompanied by the book’s photographer, Patty Carroll. Hot dogs will be served.
