Unless you intend for the pickle juice to be a beverage, no.

I'm bringing my pickle juice already packed in plastic. It's simply not worth taking any chances.

It is indeed the best picnic of the year - nothing comes even close!
Next year I will make sure I'm there. Looking forward to seeing the pictures and the recipes.
    Have fun!

Just for an update, I will be bringing just the Filipino Chicken Pancit. I've decided to drop the Moo Pa Lo because of time. With college starting this week my brain has entered panic mode.
Have a good day in the kitchen.

Are you really bringing those? I love pickle juice. What I wouldn't give for packetized olive juice.

justjoan wrote:..are you making the sweet pampanga sausages?
No, I get them from Fresh Farms. They look like this:
    Image
I grill them hot for that touch of char and serve with mustard and onion. They are quite a coarser grind than your conventional grocery sausage and noticeably sweet. If you've never had them and think you might like them, I'll bet you LOVE them. 'Seems everyone does. They'll be at the picnic and I don't intend to take any home!
I've seen them at HMart and I think Assi Market (both in Niles) but they're sometimes frozen and often piled upon one another in the butcher tray, not neatly placed as in the photo. Look for that tag so you know what you're getting.

I've been working on a prototype and think i'm ready to announce what i'm actually bringing. It will still be Penang Asam Laksa, but it'll be in aspic form. All the flavors of Laksa in a beautifully layered aspic. Prepare to be scared, confused, and hopefully stimulated.

I'll be there! I also expect 2 guests will join later on (after 2) and will be bringing something to drink.

I'm having a devil of a time actually finding the spreadsheet to make sure I'm not stepping on somebody's toes. I plan to bring deconstructed pa amb tombaquet shooters and possibly also a Spanish canape.

For my gazpacho, planning on gazpacho with a tomato & olive oil sorbet and manchego cheese straws. Only problem is bringing this together - have never made a sorbet with oil before and I'm worried about separation. Would love some ideas on emulsifiers/stabilizers that might work (assuming it's available somewhere on the north side of the city or downtown). Anyone?

this is just my opinion, obviously, but i really don't think there should be any concerns about duplication. very few of us are bringing enough food for 170+ people. i was looking forward to 3 people bringing pan bagnat, for example. as this meant i'd probably get my hands on one before they were scarfed down by the hungry hordes.....

    True.

And while we encourage people to take food home. If a dish has just arrive and you are leaving, please take a small amount to allow others to enjoy it.

If you don't want to miss anything, come early and leave late.

Those who leave early, please help tidy up as you depart. Remove dishes or haul stuff to the garbage or recycling.

    Regards,

Just like my mom used to make for breakfast growing up. I've also seen them at JoongBoo Market off Kimball and Belmont in Avondale. They usually have some stacked up in the meats section.

Next year. I moved on and didn't set up a bread.

My guest, Lee, could use a bit of Grill space for her herbed polenta.

I'm stil uncertain what I'm bringing. Leaning towards some vegetable offerings & something sconey with jam.
