    HI,

    I am still in.

What do you need help with? I have paper goods leftover from the picnic. I am available to come early to help setup. Whatever you need assistance with, please specify because everyone who partakes will be very happy to help you. You just need to outline it.

    Best regards,

    Thanks for posting a date.

Please mark down two (kithat & hubby), and please, please let us know how we can help. I've been wanting to go to my very first event for the forum, and this one really interests me!

I'd love to be in on this too. I was trying to hold off on posting until I could suggest a location, as mentioned above... but I'm also wondering if given the large number of respondents, two events might be better (making a gigantic presumption on the hospitality of the hosts, of course...)

It just seems like not everyone can cook for 40 or more people. It might be best to figure out a way to fairly pare down the guest list to make sure that not just the space but also the preparation remain manageable.

I would love to attend this dinner if you still have space!

I'd like to vote for lots of Padang food, especially rendang. Also ayam gulai. And tempeh goreng or tempeh manis. And ikan bakar. And maybe some bebek. Do they tend to do food from Java or Sumatra or Bali or everywhere?

Nasi goreng and mie goreng are like the hamburgers of Indonesia - ubiquitous but not the height of what the cuisine has to offer (in my opinion). I wouldn't miss them if they weren't there but I can understand you would want to represent what most people eat.

Also, I wouldn't mind helping out in the cooking. I've visited Indonesia a couple of times and while I was there I tried to learn about preparing the food by going home with friends or doing a cooking class. If this Indonesian couple needs some help in the kitchen I could help chop things and stir the rendang (and look over their shoulders).

Kacie and the hubby please, and I'll make it a priority. Aside from one stop at an Indonesian restaurant in Seattle, I haven't had Indonesian food for 5 years, and I spent 14 years of my childhood there.

That said.... I have no idea how these events usually go, so please excuse my questions. Financially, how do these break down? Have we decided where it will be held? Can I help?

You are my hero for doing this. Thank you so much!

I would like to be in for two...although I am a "maybe" this far out.

Disclaimer: I work on transactions which close at the end of accounting periods and that Friday is a triple witching day: end of week, month and quarter. I will reserve a spot, but glady give it up to someone that can firmly commit if you are running short on room.

In the interest of helping out, I have gone through to compile a list of those who have expressed an interest, firm or otherwise. There are currently 54 people on the list. I have deleted only those who have affirmatively stated that they will not be able to attend. agnesfong will have to decide how many people can comfortably attend (though please remember that she had iniitally mentioned a number in the 20s, not the 40s) and then I will be happy to assist her (and us) by compiling an “attendees’ list” and a waiting list. Please pm/email me any corrections, omissions, emendations, modifications, or alterations so that I can keep this list up-to-date. Thanks to all and looking forward to what promises to be a memorable event!
