I returned to Omaggio today, since I missed the main course (not that I wasn't well-fed), but I wanted to try the Risotto with Venison and Chestnut. I liked it quite a lot, and didn't feel that it had too much allspice or clove. It had a wonderfully wintery feel to it. I do note that our server tried gently to warn me away from it, suggesting the Risotto of the day (wild boar and ricotta) (perhaps he had received similar criticisms, or even those very ones), but I was stubborn and was glad that I was.
The only problem was a runner who dropped a whole tray of glasses right behind our table with glass shards flying all over the floor. It is hard to know how to weigh such accidents in terms the quality of the restaurant. Certainly these mistakes can happen everywhere, but they may also reflect servers who rush too fast or who are not well trained. It didn't affect our tip, but perhaps it should be noted. Consider it one data point that either means nothing at all or constitutes a problem.
