There's a reservation under Dave. Always room for more.

    Mmm.. Good ramen
    Image
    niku niku tontoro ramen

Outstanding broth. Good chew to the noodles. Nice crunch on the bean sprouts. Pork cheek was tasty and tender, but awkward to get into bite-sized pieces. Also featuring menma (pickled bamboo shoots) and a seaweed of some sort.

For $10.50, comes with a bowl of rice or six pieces of spicy tuna roll. I had the latter, but it was neither spicy nor especially tuna-y, and the rice was rather gummy. I should have asked what it was, and if a substitution was possible (I've actually had a taste for some good goma-ae for a long time, I wonder if they'd have done that, but a salmon roll or tekka-maki would have been better).

Thanks, Dave, for organizing this, and I'll have to drag some of my co-workers from my current gig out there, it's only 2.5 miles away.

What he said! Though I found the pork cheek easier to get into as I let it sit a bit more in the freaking amazing broth.

    Hi,

If I had known the soup came with sushi, I might have ordered it. These comments about the soup have me intrigued to give it a shot.

What Cathy said...I didn't know that either. Guess I will have to go back again and try the tontoro ramen. It certainly looked delicious as I was peering into other people's soup bowls...the sushi was good, but I agree about the spicy tuna rolls. I probably would try something different next time. The dressing on the salad and miso soup were my favorite parts of my meal, which was the sushi lunch for $10.95.

This is going to sound repetitious, but me three. I even asked the guy who was taking our orders if any of the lunch dishes came with sushi--he said no--and Joel had ordered right before me (but I hadn't heard his order), so one would think that the waiter might have mentioned it....
The roll that came with my sushi lunch was quite spicy (and I have a high heat tolerance, so that doesn't account for the difference). But I don't favor the "fish salad" type of roll (ie, where the fish is chopped up, and mayo and other ingredients added), preferring instead to have a solid piece of fish.
That said, my lunch satisified my craving for sushi, but add me to the list of those who will have to try to get back there to try the ramen. Thanks for organizing, Dave!
