    Dear Friends,

    You made it to Friday!

I am excited to see you. Go ahead and plug in here if you have made your final selection.

So I wonder if we can get a volunteer, and perhaps a back-up, to agree to capture the images from the exchange on Sunday and upload them?

    Anyone?

    Grapefruit Rosemary Sorbet Status

Okay I couldn't find my book, The Last Course, late last night when I was ready to make the base after walking the dog and heading over to Fresh Thyme to pick up some rosemary. I did check with a couple of folks before I headed out to buy rosemary for just one sprig. So after wondering what on earth and feeling all sorts of 1st world blue I found the recipe on the Internet. I made the base last night/almost this morning and it is "ripening" in the fridge and with a separate portion in the freezer now before I churn it.

I don't generally lend books so I am still wondering where mine is but I know a lot has gone on since the "holidaze" when last I used it so I will keep searching.

Great. Is this mincemeat vegetarian. I thought historically some included suet or am I confusing it with something else.

Mincemeat is not typically vegetarian. I will bring the bottle.

I went to their website for the ingredients:

WATER, RAISINS, BROWN SUGAR, SUGAR, DRIED APPLES, DEXTROSE, BRANDY, CORN STARCH MODIFIED, DISTILLED VINEGAR, DRIED CITRUS PEEL, BEEF, SALT, SPICES, RUM.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

I just want to thank Kristen for opening up her beautiful home to the group yesterday and say what a wonderful time I had.
All of the appetizers were delicious, and the desserts were a fabulous and varied selection.
It was so great to see new faces and old.
Thanks to everyone- what a great afternoon.

Mollyanne was the "Hostess with the Mostess!" She went all out with her small bites and hospitality. I'm hoping all is well with the very sweet canine Mollyanne. She was not well and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the Vet visit goes well and it is something minor.

    On with the photos:

    Image
The Spread - Didn't think to take a photo until it was decimated. A sight to behold and everything was delicious. Couldn't get enough Rumaki.

    Image
Pairs4Life's wonderfully palate cleansing Grapefruit Rosemary Sorbet. Perfect transition from dinner to dessert.

    Image
Toria's Chocolate Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies. Who doesn't love oatmeal cookies?

    Image
Skye's Churros - Even a non-churro lover liked these! We loved the non-traditional shapes.

    Image
LauraS' Mutabbaq - From the Jerusalem cookbook. Contained ricotta and goat cheese.

    Image
LauraS' Polenta Cake with Clementine Syrup - So light and moist.

    Image
ONJ4EVER's Lemon Olive Oil Cake - Perfect with a cup of tea.

    Image
justjoan's Pumpkin Cheesecake. She made two; the other said "Pumpkin." Lovely.

    Image
Kmmd's Red Velvet Cupcake Bites with Oreo Crust. Tasted like Red Velvet Cheesecake. One-bite wonders.

    Image
Cathy 2's Mincemeat Fruit & Nut Bars - Don't get hung up on the name, they're good.

    Image
Ericka's Momofuku Milk Bar Chocolate Chip Cake - Nuff said. :D

    Image
irisarbor's Coconut Cake with lemon curd filling. It was a truly passionate cake.

    Image
SueF's Chocolate Orange Polenta Cake - Very much a flourless chocolate cake. Very light. Made with 11 eggs!

    Image
Cookie Monster's Rugelach - Cream cheese dough filled with sour cherries, apricot jam and a ton of cinnamon. Sigh...

    Image
Ms. Ingie's Fig and Cream Cheese Bars

    Image
Missy's (Kmmd +1) Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcakes - So much better than a peanut butter cup.

    Image
Izzy2's Cranberry Pecan Crunch Cake - Delightful for breakfast.

our host really set the bar high for future gatherings.... i'll try, next month, to bring it back down to a lower standard.
thanks for the pics: the only correction i have is that the coconut cake had lemon curd and the cake from christine tosi's momofuku milk bar cookbook had passion fruit curd in it.
i share your concern for mollyanne, the dog's, wellbeing- she was one sweet girl....
and it was great having so many enthusiastic new bakers joining us. i hope they'll become active members of the LTH community going forward.

A belated thanks to mollyanne for hosting on Sunday! I'm also hoping that your sweet pup is feeling better. I'm going to be hosting on March 13, but I'll let the February exchange get closer before making a thread for it.
