Rene G, for me personally this event is not about the wines, which were fine but nothing special, IMO.

That's mostly clear from the list in stevez's post. There were a few (maybe Northstar, Magnificat) I was hoping might have stood out from the rest.

From my perspective, Wine Week is merely a pretext for playing hooky from work and 'consuming massive quantities' with friends.

    That's very clear!

Perhaps, from someone else's perspective. I really couldn't focus on carefully tasting the wines and probably had no more than a sip or 2 of any of the pours. I actually find this event a more difficult venue in which to carefully assess wines than a standard, non-wine-week meal. Several pours are made at once and once the bottles leave the table, I find it hard to remember which wine is which. At some points, there are so many glasses on the table, it's really hard to keep track of things. Glasses are often re-used for multiple pours with no more than a dump or rinse out. Some groups of wines are poured while there is no food on the table, so resetting the palate between tastes of different wines is difficult or impossible. I did have a few tastes that I liked yesterday but nothing that really jumped out for me.

The broccoli, however, was excellent!

$130 per person, which was $10 more per person than last year. This year, we had a smaller group over which to divide the costs of the sides and appetizers, ordered more desserts (sorry about that ) and prices have probably gone up a bit, too, since then.

Edited to correct the numbers. It was $120 last year, not $100.

    Had a fantastic time.

I agree that the wines were difficult at best to single out, but altogether, just enough for a good light buzz.

    :-)

I'm very glad to have been welcomed into this group of food-lovers. Feels like I found a new home.

Had a great time! The steak was great and the wine was passable. I will be back next year!
