No. It's not at all necessary. Before play tomorrow night, you will be able to form your own team of up to four players, be randomly appointed to a team, or even play solo if you'd like. We'll work that out there before play begins.

Great time. It was evident that Rob, Kristen, Peter and Mike put a lot of work into it, and Alan's food was outstanding. as always. Just can't figure out why bribing the judges didn't work. I thought this was Chicago.

Ditto and ditto. A hugely fun experience all the way around: great to see so many folks (though I was sorry I didn't have more time to talk with more people), superb food, and a brilliantly designed evening. It's clear that a great deal of time, effort, imagination, and thought went into the planning and it showed. Great--and really wildly diverse--questions and a lot of fun. Many thanks to all involved...can't wait for the next one.

PS One question: will the questions/answers be posted? It would be great fun to see them.

    Hi,

I arrived late, randomly sat where there was seating left and by happenstance joined the winning team. Hellodali, pig ears, annak and scanz were already doing very well. Our team had some especially nailbiting moments toward the end, because of those last three sheets tallied at the end. Name those spices with the composite at the end, not so easy and the lighting there was dim. I hope someone took a picture of the 11 types of macaroni shapes to identify. Who knew there was a tennis racket shaped pasta?

For our efforts, we received a bottle of Colcannon Irish whiskey (my Mom was sooooo delighted, because it was 1) Irish, 2) Whiskey and better yet it was 3) Irish Whiskey) and a gift certificate for a return visit.

The format for this was really well thought out: rounds of questions, which each team wrote responses on a sheet, then the answers were revealed with each team grading their own sheet. The sheets were collected and totals tallied by the organizers onto a spreadsheet, so periodically the score would be revealed on the big screen television.

The origins of the yeast related to making lager beer was posted last year.

I loved all the LTH voiceclips, where you had to guess who was speaking. I knew it was TonyC the very moment he mentioned lettuce in his fried rice. This thread was ground zero for that issue.

Much thanks to Pigmon, Trixie Pea, Sula, ReneG, and Jazzfood, for a truly fun evening.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

Thanks to everyone who came out last night. As PIGMON said, it was great to see new faces alongside LTH friends we hadn't seen in years. Getting together, meeting people from our community and having a good time was really our only goal. Excellent service and food from jazzfood's team at Chief O'Neill's, the smooth comedic stylings of m'th'su, Dr. Peter Engler's bonus round, and stevez's technical expertise and council really made the night.

Special thanks to dmnkly, Aaron Deacon, crrush, TonyC, Josephine and tatterdemalion for their thoughtful, funny and awesomely weird contributions. We'd rather have you in person, but this was the next best thing!

Congratulations to THE PARSNIP FACTOR (scanz, annak, PigEars, hellodali, Cathy2) for taking 1st prize!

One of the highlights for me was certainly when Dr. Engler (Rene G) asked everyone if they had "eaten their chunks yet."

Gypsy Boy--I will post the questions soon.

I join the chorus in thanking PIGMON, Trixie-Pea, m'th'su, ReneG, stevez, Jazzfood and the staff at Chief O'Neill's. Mr. X and I had a great time. As nr706 said, I'm not quite sure how our blatent attempt at bribing the judges didn't work, but at least Team Less Than Humble listened to m'th'su's instructions.
