sounds delicious, but remember you'll have to keep any custard cold enough to be safe eating....

An easy way to do this is to have 2 bowls that nest,
then put water between, and put the whole thing in the freezer
You now have bowl, ice bowl, bowl
Build your trifle in the inner bowl and it stays cold.
Alternately take bigger bowl- line with semi-flexible ice packs
insert smaller bowl
Where there's a will.....
The route #54A North Cicero bus runs only during weekday rush hours.stevez wrote: I'm not much of a public transit expert, but there is a bus that runs on Cicero and stops right at the entrance to LaBaugh Woods near our grove. Also, the Metra UP North line Forest Glen stop is within easy walking distance (approx 4-5 blocks) to the grove.

Like I said, I'm not much of a public transit expert. I just know I saw bus stop signs at Berwyn. Sorry for the bad info.
shoelessone wrote:Hello! I'm brand new to the forum, and also brand new to Chicago. I'd love to attend this event, and would likely bring some sort of Indian dish, or perhaps Thai (?) - something Indian or SE Asian or Japanese. Probably. It would be and my wife Lindsay, so a total of two of us.
A question: how much/what sort of portion should we plan on bringing? This might be a stupid question, but would, for instance, enough for 8 or so servings be appropriate? I'm guessing this is a "normal" potluck where you bring enough for a family basically, or a bit more, and then people just take small portions (and many people skip your dish, etc), but I just want to be sure!
edit: Also, we could likely show up early to help setup if needed, just let me know!
