All are welcome to the next installment of the Evanston lunch group at Dozika, on the corner of Dempster and Chicago (aka Clark St. if you're in Evanston's bigger suburb to the south).

    From Metromix:
This trendy Pan-Asian eatery serves Thai, Japanese and Chinese classics with style. Passersby always seem to be looking in enviously through the big windows facing Chicago Avenue as diners inside enjoying plates of sushi. Don't miss Dozika's own creation, the Evanston maki: a shrimp tempura roll topped with unagi and avocado.

I agree with other posters that pan-Asian is never the best example of each of the cuisines served, but I've never had a bad meal at Dozika; most of their stuff is reasonably good, and it's a nice, if slightly trendy, atmosphere.

And if you disagree, Wiener and Still Champion is just a block away.

Five of us met for lunch at Dozika today (which I've since been told, means "take a look" in Thai). While it's Pan-Asian, with Thai owners, most everyone had Japanese-inspired meals. A few samples (all photos courtesy of Mhays):

The food was actually better than I remembered it from previous visits, but as with all LTH events, it was the company that really made the afternoon.

Thanks, Tom! I completely agree about the company!

Went to S-Paragon tonight - FWIW I was surpried to find out it's the same management/ownership as Dozika - about 1/2 mile away ... and the Spider Roll I ordered was virtually the same as I had at Dozika the day before (although the presentation at S-Paragon was much better than at Dozika, with its decorcrative combination of mayo, siracha and vinegar sauce surrounding the sushi.).

I guess I'm not sure why a restaurant would open a similar place so close, but others who are far more knowledgeable about he restaurant business may be able to enlighten me.

This (the place on Main) was a Thai place for a while, right? I ate there once and wasn't impressed. Perhaps they just saw a decently decorated space and figured to jump on it.

Yes, it's not the same owners as it was when it was Zab Thai.
