The lunch went well, the new room is nice, Monica was welcoming as always, the kitchen seems to be operating well, so I asked if they would do a special dinner for us.

No menu, yet, but I will ask for that green (lettuce-based) mole with chicken. There will probably be some stew/soup - barbacoa, carne en su juge, or some such. And some meat in chile sauce, usually exquisite.

Probably can comfortably fit 12-15 people now. Last few such meals ran something like $20pp, if I remember correctly.

Start time is flexible, but unless we want to try to pick up some caramel, we can make it later, say 7 or even later.

Edited to change date to March 23.

Dick, this sounds awesome. I'd love to go and could possibly attend if you went on the 23rd, because we're leaving for vacation the next day and won't be back until the 31st. Either way, I'm sure it'll be unbelievable. I had a excellent dinner there last week.

Either date is good for us. Lunch was very good Saturday, and we are happy to join you for dinner. At this point, I don't know if it is just me and the hubby or if the girlies will join us.

Um, try dickson, or david, dick is reserved from when I really earn it.

Will change to the 23rd if that works for others.

Mrs. JiLS and I would be up for either the 30th or the 23rd. As we'll likely be combining the trip with a stay at Harrah's (the more usual reason for our presence in Joliet), perhaps we can convince some of the crowd to join us there for drinks after.

The dinner is confirmed for March 23 - 7pm. I have requested the Pollo con Mole Verde, which is a lettuce-based mole and is exquisite. Monica asked if there was anything else we wanted, so let me know if there is a dish you would like added.

    So far we have:

    Dickson + 3
    sdritz + 3?
    JiLS + 1
    Flip? + 1?
    Greenfish?
    Cathy2
    glennpan+1

So that gives us 7 confirmed (including you, Suzy) but a possible total of up to 13, which is close to capacity. I told them 10. Could you tentatives please give me an update on your status? At this point, I am considering this open to others until you confirm, so if anyone wants to come just say so.

If everyone says yes, I think we can probably go to 15 or so in the space. Will check with Monica when we get close to that.

I have updated the attendee list above, which puts us right at 10. I am planning to confirm the number with Monica later today, so if the maybes could confirm yea or nay, that would be great.

I know some are unable to attend because of Lent, so we may try to arrange another outing next month if this goes well. Feel free to post here or PM me if you are interested.

I also will be talking to Monica about updating the menu. In addition to the Pollo con mole verde, I will ask for the pollo en crema con champinones, that remnant of French/Austrian imperialism. Then we will probably have some stew, perhaps a Carne en su Jugo, some stewed beef or pork in a chile sauce, usually a salad, and some fresh guacamole (the Bride requires this with her meal).

If you have any specific requests or suggestions, let me know. But I need to call her later today with a count, so please let me know.

It is always good to be timely - of course. But that puts us awful close to capacity, so others should reply soon! The next ones that say yay are probably the last unless Monica says we can go higher when I speak with her later.

Timely...I timely waited until the last minute.

(Actually had to see how some other things played out, thanks for the accomodation).

    Dickson + 3
    sdritz + 1
    JiLS + 1
    VI + 3
    Cathy2
    glennpan+1

Norah, we will fit you, if you can make it. Otherwise, anyone else is welcome, but it will be a waiting list until I can confirm with Monica that they can handle more.

Thanks to Dicksond for setting up another stellar meal at Amancer last night. While I did not have my camera, others were busy taking pictures of the food as it came out from the kitchen.

We started with chips and guacamole. The guacamole was delicious and creamy and it was hard to stop filling up on it while we waited for our next course. I was busy washing it down with a bottle of mexican coke.

Monica brought out steaming bowls of carne en su jugo for everyone. Our end of the table was served first, and we were encouraged to start before the rest of the soup came out. I have never tried this particular dish before and thought the flavor was extremely "meaty" -- I was unaware that we were supposed to add other condiments to the soup. Monica came around with a large bowl of beans, which she was busy ladling into our bowls. We also had onions and fresh lime to add to the mix. The end product was delicious, quite different from my initial taste, and I enjoyed it very much. In fact, I was full by the time I finished my soup.

Next on the menu were two chicken dishes, a chicken in green mole and a second dish in a spicy sauce with crema, mushrooms and spices. The orange-colored chicken was spicy and I kept dipping my homemade tortillas into the sauce when my piece of chicken was gone. They were accompanied by rice and, of course, a never-ending supply of homemade tortillas.

Monica also brought out a large bowl of ribs in a chile sauce for us to try. I think these were the same ribs Flip ordered the previous week at lunch and I enjoyed them very much.

Again, the bill was ridiculously small for such a huge quantity of food. It is obvious that everything was prepared carefully for our group and I will be back often to the new Amancer Tapatio soon.
