    HI,

Just put it on your calendar for now. It is five months away, so nothing more will be said on this until late July or August sometime.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

Now that's what I call notice!

I'm terrible (as I've mentioned before) at remembering to check the Events page. So I'm rambling here to make sure that I get updates whenever something official is posted regarding the picnic...

Just FYI, you don't have to reply to a thread to get notices -- there's a "watch this topic for replies" link at the bottom of thread pages that you can click as well.

So much for nothing more being said until July

    No problem, and welcome!

What LTH means is a bit buried, though you can find one explanation here: http://www.lthforum.com/bb/viewtopic.php?p=68484#68484

Funny! I grew up in Lake In The Hills in the 1950's and 60's back when Algonquin had maybe 700 people and LITH was not much more than resort homes around a man made lake. Back then we had to make sure the letters LITH was on our mail as in "Isabel Road - LITH" and then Algonquin, Il.

Well our population of course has swelled as well as the number of restaurants in the area (finally!), but LTH or LITH is still used.

Did read the post about how the forum got its name- wouldn't have guessed it in a million years. But want to try L-TH sometime, for sure!

Okay, I know it is only the mere beginning of July, but this weather has got me looking forward to the event. Bring on the burgoo and mud puddles!

I will write the invitation this weekend for the picnic.

If you will refer to the invitation from last year, it is the same place and time with maybe a few tweaks.

i'd like to reiterate giovanna's suggestion from last year, which wasnt taken up. ie; let's do a cookbook exchange. to make it simple(always a good idea) i'd suggest for every cookbook you bring to exchange at the picnic you can pick one to take home. all that would be required is a table. it'd be on the honor system-which shouldnt be a problem for such a trustworthy group of folks. justjoan

    Joan,

You are entirely wrong on this. Giovanna's suggestion was not ignored. Some people did bring cookbooks to exchange because I remember JoelF bringing some. In fact I have cookbooks on my desk that were supposed to go last year, I forgot to bring them, they will make it this year. I will note not many people participated, but who knows maybe this year it will be different.

    Any more suggestions?

    Regards,
    Cathy2

sorry, i didnt remember the cookbook exchange. (where was it, does anyone remember? on the grass?) i hope that if it's mentioned in the invitation it'll make a bigger splash this year.

Last year I brought a couple we'd gotten free at the Bookseller's Expor and left them on the table for any takers... I don't know if they got took. I hope somebody enjoyed the Ruby's Trailer Park Cuisine (signed and SWAKed).

Joan, thanks for bringing up the cookbook idea again. I remember a few cookbooks sitting on one of the picnic tables in the shelter, but they weren't easy to find amidst the feast. I had left my contribution at home in my haste to get out the door with my vat of potato salad  . I'll remember mine this year, I swear it.

Speaking of which, is it time to start planning out the menu yet? Or are we going to let serendipity feed us this year?
