    First Stop: Sukhadia’s
The group will meet at Sukhadia’s to taste the much-loved snacks typical of India’s street vendors. While sipping a cup of masala chai and nibbling on pakoras, samosas and bhel, Ranjana will begin sharing recipes and weaving a historical and cultural context for Indian cooking.

    Second Stop: Patel Brothers
Thousands travel long distances to shop for spices and groceries at one of the largest and most comprehensive Indian food stores anywhere. Our group will learn about the tools, spices, grains and condiments commonly used in the Indian home and leave with an invaluable ingredient guide to help us continue our culinary journey

    Third Stop: Viceroy of India
At Viceroy of India, long a fixture of Chicago’s Indian community, we’ll enjoy a sumptuous six-course meal while learning about the preparation techniques and recipes of each dish.

Fourth Stop: Tahoora Sweets and Café
We’ll have a chance to ask any lingering questions over tea and traditional sweets at Tahoora before our tour closes, then you’re on your own to explore the colorful sari shops before heading home.

I'm actually a member of the AIWF and this is the first I've heard of this. In fact, last I heard, the Chicago chapter had folded. Interesting.

The Chicago chapter was revived in about mid-2006. You might want to PM the original poster and make sure she knows you need to be hearing from her. There have actually been a couple of very nice events so far.

    HI,

I know people on the board who voted to fold the Chicago chapter of AIWF. They told me they felt it had run its course.

How does the new chapter behave compared to the old crew and culture?

    Regards,
    Cathy2

I've only made it to one event so far since it revived, but it seemed like a pretty dynamic group, and Kim Hack, the new area coordinator, appears to be both bright and energetic. I didn't have a lot of experience of the former version of the group (only a couple events, as it folded not long after I joined), so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but it does seem like the new version has a a very positive vibe.
