Be a part of a great tradition with Shaw's Crab House Smelt Fest 2008. Sample the fresh and tasty petite fish, fried up in a secret batter at the 58th Annual American Legion Smelt Fry on Saturday, March 29. The all-you-can-eat smelt fry is hosted by the American Legion Post #82 in Port Washington, Wisconsin. The cost is $75 per person, reservations are required, and registration is at 9 a.m. at both Shaw's locations in Chicago and Schaumburg, where the party kicks off. The $75 fee includes Sunrise Bloody Marys and Mimosas; juices and breads; deluxe motor coach transportation with Goose Island brews; a box lunch; entrance fees for the VFW Smelt Fry; and a special Smelt Fest souvenir. Before the fish fry, a stop will be made in historic Cedarburg, Wisconsin, where guests can spend time at the unique arts and crafts shops, visit local confectionaries, and hang out at the lively local taps discussing the fine art of smelt fishing.
