AT CAMBIUM’S GREAT CHEFS/GREAT KITCHENS EVENT
Saturday, September 6th Spend an afternoon with some of Chicago ’s top restaurant chefs as they step out of their own kitchens and into Cambium kitchens, to share their insights and secrets during an afternoon series of cooking demonstrations at Cambium Furniture and Kitchens, 113 West Hubbard Street, Chicago.
Cambium’s Great Chefs/Great Kitchens event is scheduled for Saturday, September 6, with a stellar line-up of some of the hottest names in Chicago ’s dining scene, including:
Noon – Rick DeLeon, Executive Chef, Fulton’s on the River, 315 North LaSalle Street, Chicago. DeLeon graduated from the prestigious Johnson & Wales University , with a degree in Culinary Arts. Following his experience as the Opening and Executive Chef of a popular bistro in Atlanta , Rick joined Levy Restaurants in 1997. Throughout his career with Levy, he has served in numerous capacities, eventually gaining the coveted role of Executive Chef of Fulton ’s on the River. DeLeon now combines his classic education and passion for food with regional ingredients to create contemporary American cuisine.
1 p.m.-- Patrick Quakenbush, Chef/Partner, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, 25 East Ohio Street, Chicago. Quakenbush’s culinary baptism by fire began in the mid-1990s as Sous Chef of Planet Hollywood at Walt Disney World-Orlando, serving a mind-boggling 6000 guests each day. Drawing from that experience, Patrick’s career brought him on a globe-trotting adventure to numerous restaurants in locations including Las Vegas , Jamaica , Melbourne , and Toronto . Earlier this year, he realized his “dream,” becoming Chef/Partner of the popular new Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar in River North, the largest and most expansive location of the 68-restaurant-strong Fleming’s empire.
2 p.m. Chris Curren, Executive Chef/Partner, Blue 13 Restaurant, 416 West Ontario Street, Chicago. Ohio native Chris Curren began creating a name for himself in the Cleveland-area dining scene with assignments at Bravo!, Hyde Park Steakhouse, and Three Birds Restaurant, helping that restaurant gain the distinction of “Top 50 of 2005” by Bon Appetite Magazine. Eventually Chris moved to Chicago , to assume the role of Sous Chef at the acclaimed Zealous Restaurant. Earlier this summer, Chris and his partners opened the red-hot Blue 13 Restaurant, where Chris pairs classic American food with a modern French and Italian flair to the delight of legions of fans.
“We’re honored to bring these talented chefs to Cambium Furniture and Kitchens to share their culinary wizardry with the public,” says Brian Hudok, proprietor of Cambium, one of Chicago ’s preeminent sources for top-quality custom kitchen design.
