The Chicago CROP Walk, sponsored by Church World Service will be held tomorrow. The route starts at 2:!5PM from UIC (registration for walk-ons at 1PM), and winds past the Sears Tower, Daley Plaza, Buckingham Fountain and right past the south end of the Maxwell Street Market.
The idea of the CROP walk is that in less-developed countries, people may have to walk at 10 kilometers (about six miles) for food.
CROP stands for "Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty."
Money raised goes to fight global hunger, 25% of the funds staying in Chicago.
Come cheer on my wife and son who will be walking. I'll be at the south end of Maxwell Street around 4PM near the finish. At the finish line will be a performance by the Jessie White Tumblers.
