I'll be at this, and thought some of you chili lovers might like to partake. Don't forget to bring a coat for the coat drive for free admission!

What/Why: Cost: $10 (Free with coat donation)

Do you know anyone who insists that they make the best chili in the free world, yet never provide any culinary evidence to their insufferable claims? Yep, thought so. Well, it's now time for them to put up or shut up. Moonshine hereby challenges up to 16 contestants to put their peppers where your mouth is so you can tell them they're full of beans, or not. If you happen to be a chili braggart yourself, stop by, visit us at http://www.moonshinech... or give us a ring at 773.862.8686 and we'll fill you in.

Chili? Tailgating? Competition? Climate-be-damned burning drums? Live music? Beer? Bears? Coat Drive? We're more fun than the McCaskey's, right? Hmmm...we might be on to something here.

In the tradition of Moonshine's crazy-successful "Rib-a-Que and Smokeout," we'll open up our parking lot, assembling both pros and amateurs alike to compete for the Gilded Ladle and some serious coin. The victor will walk away with $1,000 cash money. The runner-up will collect $300 and $200 will go to the 3rd place finisher. There'll be no celebrity judges to buy off, yet in another distinctly Chicago tradition, contestants will be encouraged to invite their friends to offer friendly weighting to the audience vote.

And to prove we're all heart and not just heartburn, the Moonshine Good Guys will be hosting our Coats for Needy Families Coat Drive in conjunction with the office of 1st Ward Alderman Manny Flores. In the best and weather-oblivious traditions of Chicago Bears tailgating, we'll supply burning drums to warm you from the elements while your coat donations will help keep a family warm this winter. Oh, and by the way, just so you know that we can back it up too, we'll let you in for free if you bring a coat with you for donation. That's right...we take care of our own. Keep it local, baby!

So what's in it for you? Well, for 10 bucks or a coat donation, you can sample all the chili (in a variety of regional styles) your lily-white constitution can handle, a live band to keep you moving and help cool your sweaty brow, as well as express entry into the best party in world tailgating history. Once you've wiped your chin of chili beef, stick around and watch our Bears wipe the floor with those dirty Eagles of Philadelphia. To help put out the fire, Moonshine resident brew master Rev. Bob will be serving up the best handcrafted brews you've ever tasted. Seriously, the best ever.
