    Moonshine Celebrates Craft Beer
    Moonshine Restaurant & Brewery

In honor of American Craft Beer Week, a nation-wide celebration of the art of craft brewing, Moonshine Restaurant & Brewery will showcase its new lineup of house brews by pairing them with delicious new dishes. The featured brew of the week will be a brand new, highly anticipated wheat beer, “Hymie Weiss,” aptly named after Al Capone’s bitter gangster rival! They say it’s “a beer you’ll kill for”!

This is a great chance for beer lovers to toast craft brewing and to commemorate the advanced beer culture here in Chicago,” says Moonshine chef Matt Wilde. The “mother of all beers weeks,” American Craft Beer Week is the largest national effort focusing on American craft brewers.

Moonshine has recently implemented a fully-operational in-house brewery, spearheaded by Brewmaster Bob Kittrell. The house-brew list consists of six diverse, hand-crafted beers, each priced at $5.

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Event at The Rocking Horse
Come help celebrate Chicago Craft Beer Week at The Rocking Horse on Tuesday, May 18th @ 8pm and enjoy some fine Sierra Nevada beers. We will be offering the classic Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA, and limited special brewery release draught offerings of Blonde Ale, Best Bitter and Brown Ale.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale highlights the bold flavors and piney-citrus aromas of whole-cone Cascade hops.

Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA had to have the boldest hop flavors and aroma possible. After years of experimentation, we developed something we call the Hop Torpedo; a revolution in dry hopping and an invention designed to harness all of the inviting complexity that whole-cone hops have to offer.

Sierra Nevada Blonde Ale is a traditional Old World-style ale. Medium-bodied, straw-colored and lightly hopped, this ale is a wonderful summertime brew.

Sierra Nevada Best Bitter is brewed using imported English malts and hops, this medium-bodied, copper-colored beer is a rendition of the popular English bitter ale style. Our Best Bitter is very drinkable yet flavorful ale.

Sierra Nevada Brown Ale is a traditional English-style brown ale using the renowned British aromatic hop – East Kent Golding. Medium-bodied, slightly dry, but a dark and very flavorful ale.

New Belgium Brewery's Lips of Faith Tasting at Brixie's
Join us at Brixie’s (9526 W. Ogden Ave, Brookfield, IL) on Tuesday, May 18th at 9:00 PM, as we sample two offerings from New Belgium Brewery’s Lips of Faith program, Eric’s Ale and Belgian Style Blond Ale, in celebration of Chicago Craft Beer Week.

The Lips of Faith program brews small-batch beers full of creativity and without inhibitions. Eric's Ale combines a dry, sour beer aged up to three years in oak foeders with a semi sweet, higher alcohol base beer. The resulting blend is re-fermented with peach juice, creating a smooth ale with subtle peach tones and a warm, spicy finish. The aroma has pleasant hints of vanilla and tropical fruit, the wood characteristics are present but nicely muted. A sour beer for those who don't like sour beers. And a fruit beer for those who don't like fruit beers. 7% ABV, 16 IBU’s.

The Belgian Style Blond Ale is a strong golden ale light in color, with moderate body and a crisp finish. Saaz and Styrian Golding hops offer a distinctive Nobel hop aroma. A Belgian yeast strain produces banana and clove notes for a remarkably crisp flavor profile. Belgian Blond is delightfully inviting and approachable with a decidedly adult 8.5% alcohol content and 30IBU’s.
