Located in Whiting, Indiana, Pierogi Fest is a celebration of that darling dumpling originating in eastern Europe. It was started by a group of friends while eating breakfast (probably vegan-style) at Dimitri's Cake and Steak. They didn't choose the Kielbasa, and (luckily) they didn't choose Charnina (aka. ducks blood soup); instead, they chose the lonely dumpling in an effort to promote good, healthy eating throughout the environmentally friendly town of Whiting, Indiana. So come join us at Buckingham Fountain on Sunday, July 25, 2010. We will take the following route at a "touring" pace (average 12-14mph) that is nice and relaxed for all riders.

Totally real! It's a great way to get out, socialize, and enjoy some really great Polish and ethnic food. Come along; we aren't that twisted in person! :)

I don't know about the ride, but Pierogi Fest is absolutely for real. :D Here's an article by one of the founders:

    and another: http://www.nwitimes.com/lifestyles/food ... e3bea.html

    I couldn't get the youtube button to work,so here's last year's version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU_NZKB2 ... re=related

Reporting from Whiting (where the pierogies are cooking themselves)
    that's my favorite
It’s more fun to talk with someone who doesn’t use
long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like
    “What about lunch?”
    —Winnie The Pooh
"... a good dinner is of great importance to good talk. One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well."

    This weekend 7/29-31, 2011!

I haven't done the bike ride, but have driven the last couple of years (1/2 hour from Chicago's Loop) - this is a charming fest in a nice town... Don't know what happened to the "Annual Ride", but thought I would post this anyways...
