Yours truly will be competing in this year's annual Adobofest and it's a great way to learn about Filipino food and culture!

    http://fan-chicago.org/past-events/adobofest/

    “Can you taste it?”

Does your mouth water just thinking of adobo? Do you like it crispy? Maybe a bit more vinegary than your lola’s but with just the right amount of soy sauce? Is pork better than chicken, or just “different”?

These questions just might be answered at our 3rd Annual picnic / tasting competition.

    Sunday, September 19th
    11-5 PM
La Bagh Woods (Foster & Cicero), Chicago

Last year we had 10 adobo entries. Can we double that this year?

    Do you want to compete?
No Entry Fee!! Please click our “Adobofest Contestant Sign-up” tab at the right to confirm a spot for your your adobo. We are limited to 25 entries. Bring enough to get “People’s Choice” votes and about ½ pound for the blind tasting for the judges to select this year’s “Chicago’s Best Tasting Adobo”. Both titles earn trophies and year-long bragging rights!

Do you want to eat and pick a winner?
A $7 donation gets you ice, rice, adobo and a chance to taste and vote for your “People’s Choice” winner! Donate more, taste more, vote more,..until we run out!

Will there be any other fun stuff?
Like last year, we will also have entertainment, demonstrations, and games for kids and adults, details to come. Please keep tabs on our website, www.fan-chicago.org Also look for updates on our Facebook, LinkedIn, and Meetup pages!

Are you interested in sponsorship or underwriting this nationally / locally unique event?
If you would like to have a booth, or get top billing for your sponsorship, please email Edgar at Adobofest@fan-chicago.org for details.

Where do your donations and sponsorships go?
Because we are a 501c (3) organization, all of your donations are tax deductible. All funds go towards supporting this event and all of our annual, cultural-education, community building programs, such as the Chicago Filipino American Film Festival, Senior Gift Basket Drive, Navy Pier Children’s Museum Passport to the Philippines series and assisting our charity partners, Believe International (www.BelieveInternational.org )and the Filipino American Community Health Initiative of Chicago (FACHIC)

    Do you want to volunteer?

    We meet every Wednesday.

Email us at adobofest@fan-chicago.org or call Edgar at 312-519-2834 for more information or to confirm you attendance. Please see Adobofest volunteer call-out below.

    Finally
Adobofest is open to anyone who wants to attend! But please, remember, this is a picnic too, so bring your food and drinks. We can’t guarantee the weather or enough adobo entries, but we will have enough ice, rice and adobo for the first 200 attendees.

    PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!!

    Hi,

I might stop by with my friend Helen on Sunday afternoon. I am really curious about how this is conducted.

    I once made Cicada Adobo!

    Regards,

It was a great event and hopefully more non-filipinos will come out and learn more about our food and culture in future festivals. It's not surprising to me that *good* Filipino food is hard to come by in Chicago so I'm all for sharing my ethnic background whenever I can.

Adobofest this year was great with quite a bit of competitors. Some pics from my blog of the event are below... along with this slideshow of more pics from the event: Chicago's Adobofest 2010

    Hi,

I fully intended to stop by. I am sometimes a bit geographically challenged. I thought I could stop by on my way home from St. Charles. Not exactly how our area fits together.

One of these days I will make it.

    Regards,
    Cathy2
