"Deps" or dépanneurs have been
discussed briefly here before thanks to Geo. I'm a big fan of the
Canadian Centre for Architecture and their programs; this workshop sounds awesome.
The Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) wrote:Workshop: Global DépanneursGuest collaborators lead an exploration of dépanneurs in downtown Montreal. Beyond the notion of the corner store, some dépanneurs have been adapted into meeting places, zones where the needs of cultural communities interact with local market activity. Participants will explore the neighbourhood around the CCA and use drawing to discover these hybridized typologies.
Inspired by the exhibition
Journeys: How travelling fruit, ideas and buildings rearrange our environment (2010), the CCA hosts
Storytellings, a series of workshops that explore changes in the built environment initiated by and resulting from movement.
On 22 January 2011, the workshop will be led in English by Ian Chodikoff. On 5 February 2011, the workshop will be led in French by Judith Lussier.
Admission is 5$, and free for Friends of the CCA. Capacity is limited; please call to reserve: 514 939 7026.
