The next dessert exchange will be Sunday, April 10th at my place in Highland Park at 2:30 pm. My home is just over two blocks east of the Metra North's Highland Park station.

    There is street parking.

We have a cat named Katie. If I stick her outside, she will stare at us from the window. If we let her in, she may vanish or hover at the edge. She's cat who does exactly what she wants.

Here is the basic format for the dessert exchange:

    1) I’ll serve a vegetarian dinner
    2) Bring one recipe size of any dessert – no doubling or tripling of recipes needed!
    3) Bring a container to transport your dessert assortment home. (Or two, one for refrigerated desserts and one for non-refrigerated desserts.)
    4) Come hungry. You probably won’t want to eat another dessert afterwards for another month.

Feel free to make whatever you like. (Although in the past, some participants have been vegetarians and/or those who don't drink alcohol, just advise if your dessert includes those ingredients)

    1. pairs4life - chocolate chip cookie
    2. helen
    3. pie lady - Spicy Peanut Butter Pie
    4. shorty - oatmeal-coconut-sunflower seed cookies
    5. mkr
    6. ymas
    7. Cookie Monster
    8. Laura
    9. toria - an orange and lemon cake
    10. Cathy2

That's not my official entry, just a thing I wanted to try. My official entry will either be pie, a marjolaine, or maybe a piejolaine.

Can't wait to meet this fiesty cat of yours.

    That sounds really good.

I'll have to think on what I'm making. As it is approaching Easter, I could make Hot Cross Buns. Thoughts?

I'd love to attend this. Do I have to say what I will bring in advance? Does the dessert have to be cut up in pieces in advance?

    Hi,

Most people will state what they are bringing. If you are going to surprise us, at least avoid duplicating what is known. Many bring their masterpieces unportioned, then we dive in after pictures.

I would like to attend this dessert exchange. Right now I am thinking of making some kind of turtle dessert (bar or cookie).

Do you by any chance eat dried cured pork? I was gifted 1 lb of it the other day, but don't eat this kind of food. the brand is Hsin Tung Yang.

Right now, I'm leaning towards a chocolate chip cookie. Saw a recipe I want to try + since I'm going to be up there hours before the exchange, I need something I can reasonably assume will travel well which leaves out both Key Lime Pie & Boston Creme Pie

You don't have to say what you'll bring, it just helps keep up the variety. You can just see what everyone else is making and then decide. ;)

I notice you live in Wheaton. I live in Oakbrook Terrace. I don't think we've met, but if you want to carpool, I'm willing.

    Hi,

Make one cake or the other, there will be so many desserts that duplication is not necessary.

Closer to the event, I was planning to PM everyone with directions.
