Howard St. Food Truck Festival July 28

On Thursday, July 28, Expo 76 will perform at Brummel Park. Come early and come hungry to experience the latest dining trend: Food Trucks! Starting at 5:30 pm, Evanston's first and only food truck, Hummingbird Kitchen, and Chicago-based Sweet Ride Chi,Taquero Fusion, TamaleSpaceship and Meatyballs Mobile will serve up a host of delicious foods! Brummel Park is one block North of Howard St. and one block East of Ridge Ave. Neigborhood parking is severely limited; you can access the park by taking the red or purple line to Howard and walking or taking a bus (97, 215 or 201) half a mile West to Elmwood, then North to Brummel. If you bring your car, I recommend parking at the Howard St. CTA lot and walking or taking the bus. In the event that you're frustrated with food truck lines, along nearby Howard St. there are any number of good to very good restaurants (please note that Evanston has a different numbering system than Chicago; the 1800 block in Chicago = the 500 block in Evanston) Note the Howard St. renaissance has begun: new streetscape, some new stores (some stores gone that I won't miss) and some soon-to-be-not-empty storefronts (there is talk of a theater and art gallery.) Not a bad time to familiarize yourself with an area that's up-and-coming and has a really interesting food scene.
