Kate Cooks the Books, Saturday, Oct. 15, 1:00 p.m. @ Freemont Public Library, Mundelein

There are plenty of wonderful cookbooks out there, but how do you know which ones are worth your time and shelf space? Cookbook blogger Kate Gerlach (katecooksthebooks.com) will tell you which cookbooks are worth acquiring and which are better left on the coffee table. Her reviews have been featured on BonAppetit.com and SeriousEats.com.

Copies of several of her recommended cookbooks will be available for sale, provided by the Lake Forest Book Store. We will also be giving away a copy of each of the four books discussed.

To register for this program, call the Readers Advisory desk at 847-918-3225

Fremont Public Library is located at 1170 North Midlothian Road in Mundelein.

Kate gave a program at the Vernon Area Public Library on October 1, and a great time was had by all. Also: cupcakes!!! And cookies that, on the surface, we should have all hated: no butter, no sugar, and from the Gwyneth Paltrow cookbook. They were also delicious. And good tips from Kate. Got a good jump on my holiday shopping.

    HI,

I had hoped to go to her program to see what it was like, then possibly invite her.

Ironically I couldn't make this date, so now I have a better chance!

    Regards,
    Cathy2
