The100-year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic will occur this April. For those who are interested, Todd Fisher, Director of the Napoleon Society, is planning a recreation of the last dinner served in First Class on the Titanic.

I don't have all the details from Todd yet, but so far we know that it will be Sunday, April 15, at Le Titi de Paris in Arlington Heights, and it will be $300 per person, including tip and tax. (If you don't want the wine pairings with each course, the meal would be $50 less.)

Todd will be inviting members of the Napoleon Society and the Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, but because he needs to have a minimum number of 30 to pull this off, he told me I could invite LTHForum members, as well.

A sign-up site is being created, but I don't have that information yet. I just wanted folks to have a chance to get it on their calendars if they're interested, and I'll update this as soon as I have more details.

Hope to see you there. Knowing Todd, this will be a remarkable event.

Additional information on the Centennial Dinner for the Titanic, as well as contact info for getting on the guest list, is here:

The seven-course dinner is still being finalized, but its present form is included.

As noted on the site, dressing formally and even ostentatiously is encouraged.

There is only room for a maximum of 50 people, so if this is something that is deeply meaningful to you, you may want to look into it sooner rather than later.

A bit of an update -- I've learned that Todd will be bringing in wine from another source, to ensure that the dinner offers the best possible wines for the price (without restaurant mark-up). So the wines should be better than the price suggests.

Alas, this bash has not gotten the minimum number of folks needed to keep it afloat, as it were, so the Titanic Centennial Dinner is being cancelled. Pity -- it would have been fun to enjoy that last meal. But the economy does not lend itself to such extravagances.

Hope you weren't just on the verge of signing up.

    Hi,

I see the link has already been pulled, what was the planned menu?
