I'll try to join you, as well.
I was at Katy's in Oak Park last night and tried the "beef stew with spicy beer sauce" with an included side of rice (choice of white or brown.) It was pretty good, with nicely tender slices of beef plus mushroom, red and green bell pepper, along with bite-sized pieces of some sort of white tubular vegetable (bamboo shoot?), swimming among a number of wok-ed red chiles in an assertive broth/sauce. I was dining solo, else I might also have ordered dan dan noodles and/or fish & chive pot stickers, which I've enjoyed there multiple times.
I find that service drifts between relaxed and unattentive, although that's been more of a minor quibble than a show-stopper. E.g., when your water glass is empty, it may be more expeditious to just get up and refill it at the soda fountain rather than wait for it to be noticed by the (seemingly young and inexperienced) service staff. Anyway, such thoughts tend to dissolve when those dramatic dishes finally do arrive and capture one's attention.
...Hope to make it Monday night.
