For February, what could be more appropriate for the day before Valentine's Day than the French (okay, French-American) fare at Jilly's Café in Evanston! Jilly's is lovely, a little hideaway just off the bustling intersection of Central Street and Green Bay Road, easily accessible by car as well as by Metra.

All are welcome. If you'd like to join us, please let me know, either via post or via PM, so that I can provide an accurate headcount to the restaurant:

    1. nsxtasy (Ken)
    2. nr706 (Tom)
    3. George R
    4-5. B2B+1
    6. moetchandon
    7. tarte tatin (Gale)

The reservation is under my first name. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Just a reminder - our lunch at Jilly's is this Thursday. If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late to come join us!

I will be sorry to miss this, but I think I'd better drop out. I don't think I will have time on Thursday to drive to Evanston and back. I hope to try Jilly's another time and also hope to join the ELG for lunch again soon.

We won't be able to make it on Thursday. However, we would be happy to organize lunch at Pulpo Loco (see the post) on March 5 or 6. Is this ok with everyone?

Either date looks fine to me right now.

I've been wanting to go to Pulpo Loco. I have a slight preference for March 6, since March 5 is Ash Wednesday. Thanks, Robert!

I'm sorry, I'm going to have to drop out. My hot water heater broke last week and had to be completely replaced, so I'm low on available cash and I'm going to have to work a bit extra tomorrow to help pay for it. Plus I'm fostering a little beagle who needs to be let out more often than I can get home some days. I really wanted to try Jilly's, but it will have to wait. Have fun, everyone! -Helen

Sounds good. I was hoping DMK Burger & Fish on Noyes would be open by now, but they're not. Maybe the time after that.

    See everyone in an hour!

It was nice to see everyone again today.

During lunch, Tom mentioned two other candidates which would also be fine: Boltwood, from Publican chef de cuisine Brian Huston, in the former Lulu's Dim Sum space, and Tony Hu's new place on Orrington (which may be called Lao Sze Chuan or Bite of China).

We'll have to wait until any of these places is open, with lunch hours, before we can make concrete plans for the ELG. DMKB&F and LSC/BoC both anticipate openings this month, while Boltwood is looking at a May opening.
