    Food Patriots
What are Americans doing to change the way they eat and buy food
and teach the next generation of consumers?

Presented by Filmmakers Jeff and Jennifer Spitz, and their son, Sam

    Saturday, April 11, 2015
    10 a.m. to Noon
    At
Kendall College, School of Culinary Arts
900 N. North Branch Street, Chicago
(Located just north of W. Chicago Ave. at N. Halsted St.)

Join us as filmmakers Jeff Spitz and Jennifer Amdur Spitz showcase their documentary, “Food Patriots,” which details the journey of a Midwestern mother whose son nearly died from a foodborne superbug, and the army of American Food Patriots who teach her that even one person has the power to make a difference.

Jeff will discuss storytelling and cultural memory, focusing on vintage breakfast cereal commercials and their functional role in “Food Patriots.”

Jennifer will discuss contemporary efforts to reconnect us to our food. From a Victory Garden revival movement to school food and education — personal and political stories that raise awareness and consumer demand for good food.

Sam Spitz, their son who recovered from the foodborne superbug, will discuss his experience and participation in advocacy efforts to stop the overuse of antibiotics in farm animal production.
