Anyone want to join me for a last Kow Kow egg roll to be enjoyed in their parking lot?

    If we pre-order enroute, I'm thinking it'll be about a 4-minute event.

    Hi,

Is it possible you could bring some egg rolls back home with you? If yes, I will let you know how many.

    Thanks!

This has to be one of the most bizarre requests I've gotten from a woman. 8)

Based on the phone calls I overheard when I was there yesterday, I'd suggest placing your order for 8 egg rolls ahead of time. People were calling in and asking about the possibility of picking them up by the dozens. The Kow Kow folks were encouraging everyone to order ahead so they can be sure to have enough made up to provide them to you and still have enough for the restaurant operation.

It just so happened that I did call Wendy Moy around 1:00pm today to make sure that they could provide us with egg rolls for tomorrow's festivities. She said at the time that, due to monstrous demand, we would only be able to get at most 12.

Unfortunately, I just received a followup message from her this evening saying that they can provide us a grand total of zero egg rolls.

Thus, the 4-minute event is officially CANCELLED.

    DISAPPOINTED.

We were able to get 3 eggrolls last night for carry out, along with a few other things to round out the meal. The place was hopping. Not to make anyone too unhappy, but they were excellent.

I took a special trip out to Kow Kow around 6pm last night for the first time ever in hopes of snagging an egg roll. Sadly they were out but they did have vegetarian egg rolls available. I ordered two of those and shrimp fried rice. The rice was forgettable, but the veggie egg rolls were outstanding. Crisp exterior, flavorful interior filled with water chestnuts, bok choy, and mushrooms. Even my vegetable-phobic 5 year old liked these. I'm sad to have discovered these so late in the game. The dining room was hopping, and there were about 4-5 people in line ahead of me waiting to pick-up orders. I heard the hostess say that somebody who lived out of state wanted her to ship egg rolls overnight to her in New York. Another customer was planning on taking a bunch to her friend who lives out of state as well. Seems like Kow Kow could have a successful business just providing egg rolls to the masses.

    Hi,

I was listening to WGN just now. Bob Sirott had mentioned Kow Kow yesterday afternoon. When he tried to get an egg roll last night, he was turned away. They did advise they would have egg rolls on Thursday.

Kow Kow mentioned they will be making egg rolls next week after their closing this weekend.

I think if you order now, then plan your timing around when they really are available. You will get them.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

A co-worker who did not consult me went to Kow Kow today for lunch with a supplier. When they ordered, they were told there were no egg rolls, so they ordered other items and had lunch.

Then, at the end of their lunch, they saw finished egg rolls coming out of the fryer and asked about them. They were offered 10 of them, which were indeed purchased and brought back to the office for us to devour. Glad I got a taste of them today. Even after having sat in the car for 7 minutes, they were still great when we tore into them at the office. Definitely the best second lunch I've had in quite some time.

We ate their egg rolls for the first (and last) time this year. I want to thank LTH turning me on to the place and that great thread on egg rolls. Sorry to see those egg rolls go away forever.

I did a carry out lunch today to offset yesterday's cancelled egg roll outing. Outstanding egg rolls. I'm going to miss that greasy goodness.

The NY call might have been my cousin, as she has been trying to figure out how to get some sent to her.

As for providing egg rolls to the masses, I hope someone talks the Moys into selling that egg roll recipe and starts a food truck!

My parents spoke with one of the Moys today after the lunch rush and allegedly they are not taking any more orders for carry-out egg rolls. You have to eat in to get them, but they will allow extras to be ordered an carried out at the end of the meal.

I say allegedly, as it seems information changes based on the day and who you speak with.
