You all know of the Cookie Monster, but how would you like to meet the Cake Angel? For that’s what we consider Jocelyn Delk Adams. Jocelyn has penned an oh-so-sweet book that captures not only her southern grandmother’s luscious baking legacy, but her loving warmth as well.

Jocelyn will discuss her family roots, starting with her greatest baking influence, her grandmother (or Big Mama) Maggie. While Jocelyn was born in Chicago, she spent a great deal of time in Winona, Mississippi with her grandparents; she grew up learning about the beauty of Southern baking and family traditions. Those traditions and influences have found their way into the pages of her first cookbook, Grandbaby Cakes.

Jocelyn will also talk about the process of writing the book and how the memoir/cookbook came to be, from how she selected recipes and what twists were added to the original recipes, to how she selected which stories, memories and family snapshots to include..

BIOGRAPHY: Besides authoring the book Grandbaby Cakes, Jocelyn Delk Adams is the founder of a food blog of the same name. Her blog gives her family’s, particularly her grandmother’s, cherished generational recipes a modern spin while preserving the most important ingredient- tradition. Jocelyn is a brand ambassador and writer for Coca-Cola, Pillsbury, Omaha Steaks, and KitchenAid. In the span of just 3 years, Grandbaby Cakes has been featured by Better Homes and Gardens, O (The Oprah) Magazine, The Thanksgiving Day Parade on CBS, TODAY Show Food, The Rachael Ray Show, ABC World News Now and many many more. Grandbaby Cakes was released in September 2015 and was featured as a top fall cookbook by People Magazine, Vanity Fair, Yahoo! and Epicurious. It also won the Gourmand Award 2016 for Best Blogger Cookbook USA and is nominated for an NAACP Image Award 2016- Outstanding Literary Instructional Work. Jocelyn is also the founder of A Charitable Confection, an anti-violence dessert fundraiser featuring the top bakeries in Chicago.

Cost of the lecture program is $5, $3 for students
and no charge for CHC members and Kendall students and faculty.
