At dinner tonight, as mentioned elsewhere, the bartender comped us a couple glasses of Viña Godeval made from the Godello grape. I'd never had this before, or even heard of it. Bartender described it as having characteristics of Albariño and Sauvignon Blanc. Works for me.

Anyway, it was terrific. It had a really nice balance of fruit and mineral character, and worked wonderfully with the shrimp.

This particular version is imported by the ubiquitous Jorge Ordoñez. I'm not sure how representative it is of the grape, but if I happen to see it, I'll surely snag a bottle.

I tasted the Vina Godeval at an Ordonez tasting earlier this year and thought it was quite refreshing. I don't have any notes, but I remember that I really liked this wine. The 2006 can be found for as little as $13 at the Wine Library in Springfield, New Jersey. I've purchased things from the Wine Library and found them to be quite reliable.
