Does anyone know of a place in the Chicago area that sells a good variety of beer glasses? I can find them online but can't seem to find a store that carries more than one or two types.
    Thanks

Are you looking for labelled/branded glasses or just plain barware?

You can find some basic pint/pilsner/weizen glasses at Target. Restaurant supply stores (there are a few on Madison, just west of the loop) will have some similar plus mugs, goblets and other heavy glass styles

If you are looking for Belgian glassware (snifters and the like) I have had the best luck on eBay. I have a fairly large collection of beer glasses for all styles and most came from eBay, though they are all branded (Delirium, Unibroue, Duvel, etc).

One recommendation I can make is to find some of the Sam Adam's Perfect Pint Glass. I use one of these 80% of the time. It does just feel right in the hand, and is not too thick of glass. You can usually get them on eBay quite a bit cheaper.

West Lakeview Liquors will often have "gift packs" of Belgium beers that included the given beer's branded glass. I bought my brother a Kwak set that included their cool looking signature glass with the wooden holder. That may be a round about way of getting beer glasses, but it is nice to get the beer as well.

Aside from E-bay, most breweries will have a store on their website where you can buy their glasswear.

Finally, this does you no good for Chicago, but Discount Liquors in Milwaukee usually has a good selection of branded beer glasses - belgium & american craft. It is a fantastic beer store and a must stop when in the land of cheese.

Crate and Barrel also has unbranded glasses that work well. I received my pint glasses and snifters from there for my wedding. I like them a lot. They were $1.95 each.

I also have a couple of weizen glasses that my mom brought back for me from Germany. I got a chalice in a St. Bernadus gift pack that I use all the time.

In case you wanted branded beer glasses from local breweries, you could just stop by the brewpubs. At least, that's the case for Two Brothers and Goose Island. I went to FFF hoping for some branded glasses and while they have a selection of souveneirs (key fobs, t-shirts, stickers), glasses are not among them.

FFF was selling pint glasses when I was there for $7 I think. They wee just a real plain logo in red on the glass.

I often just ask, if they have a logo glass I'm in love with. They are fun souvenirs to bring back. I've picked up glasses (with permission of the establishment) all over the world and never had to pay for one.

Man, last time I was there and asked, I was denied! D'oh!

Guess I'll just have to go back. What a shame... ;)

Thanks, all. Good tips. I'd prefer non-branded but those seem to be harder to find. I'm going to try Scott's in Woodfield. I like the Sam Adams glass but I only want a couple. I'll watch ebay.

These are my brother's Beer Glasses, and they do come non-branded.

I've spent a lot of time and effort finding beer glasses around the city...

    For branded glassware:
For German and some Belgian glasses try beerables.net...the guy lives in Skokie and is willing to let you pick them up. The Chicago Brauhaus sells their glasses apparently...I just found this out last night. If you make friends with the guy at the Chicago Ale House he'll sell them as well. West Lakeview Liquors has some...you may have to buy the beer as well. Binny's usually has a few glasses as well. Scott's Brewery Collectibles has glasses for common beers...mostly American swill. Otherwise I generally go to eBay or John's Grocery on the web.

For unbranded glasses, I generally go to Crate and Barrel...they have the widest selection. Binny's and World Market also have a good selection.
